Tile Stack: Mahjong - Sort Into Columns, Clear Three of a Kind
📚 Guide: Mahjong Games - Free Tile Matching Online
What is Tile Stack: Mahjong?
Rather than pairing open tiles, you file them into columns. Each tile you take has to go somewhere, and three of the same pattern side by side clear out. Fill every column and the run is over, so each placement is a small planning decision.
How to play
Take a tile from the row along the bottom and drop it into an empty or suitable column. Three tiles of the same pattern lined up in one column burst and give that column its space back. The aim is to melt every tile on the board before the columns seize up. Place tiles carelessly and the columns fill with half-finished sets until you have no move left. Keeping one column to a single pattern is the safest arrangement, and clearing the whole board wins the level.
Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Left click | Take a tile and drop it into a column |
| Tap | Tap the tile, then the column, on a phone |
Tips
- Give each column a single pattern; a mixed column turns into dead space later on.
- Keep the last empty column for emergencies rather than spending it on the first tile you take.
- When a set is one tile short of three, hunt that pattern down before anything else.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from classic mahjong?
You are not pairing open tiles here. You file tiles into columns and build sets of three, so the rules lean on space management.
When does the game end?
The level is over once every column is full and there is nowhere left to put a tile.
