What is Crow Memory?

Eight crow characters go onto the board as sixteen shuffled cards. The layout changes every round, so learned positions are worthless and you really do have to remember. It plays in short, quiet rounds.

How to play

You turn two cards at a time. Matching crows stay face up, and a mismatch flips both back down after a moment. The aim is to clear all sixteen cards in as few tries as you can manage. Because the deal is reshuffled for every round, nothing from the last game helps you here. Once every crow has met its twin the board is empty and the round ends.

Tips

  • Work left to right on your first pass; sweeping the board beats random picks for fixing places in your head.
  • Code each crow by one detail such as colour or crest, since 'red beak, top right' sticks far better than 'a crow, top right'.
  • Found a pair? Confirm the other one you remember before you collect it, while the picture is still fresh.
  • Do not rush to go faster, because every wrong flip costs a turn and muddles what you had memorised.

Frequently asked questions

How many cards are there?

Sixteen cards and eight different crow characters, which means you are matching eight pairs.

Do the cards appear in the same places each time?

No, they are reshuffled for every game, so a layout you memorised cannot be reused.
